A wildlife pond needs care, but it also needs restraint.

The temptation is to tidy everything. Remove every bit of algae. Cut everything back. Make the water look perfect. But wildlife often likes the bits that look slightly messy.

The balance

The goal is not neglect.

The goal is gentle management: enough care to keep the pond healthy, but enough wildness to keep it useful.
